About Greyhound Placement

Ohio Greyhound Placement, Inc. is a nonprofit*, volunteer-run organization dedicated to placing retired racers in qualified homes. Every dog we place has been:
• spayed or neutered
• inoculated against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, coronavirus, bordetella, and rabies
• tested for heartworm
• given a "dental," i.e., ultrasonic scaling and polishing, and any necessary dental work
• professionally groomed
• wormed
• given any other needed medical care **
The transition from track life to home life begins in our in-home kennel. Housebreaking is started. The dogs learn to climb stairs and are introduced to basic obedience commands. Each dog's personality and temperament are expertly evaluated throughout his/her stay with us. We cat test each dog.

ChinaDoll
chinadoll milo We take great care to select a dog that is appropriate for your family and your lifestyle...the right dog for you. We consider many factors in this decision:
• family size
• number and ages of children
• other pets
• active or sedentary lifestyle

An application, interview, and $200.00 adoption fee are required. A fenced yard or area is also required.
We do our utmost to educate the potential adopter, answering any and all questions, and recommending certain greyt books.
Our purpose is not simply to place greyhounds in homes, but to ensure a successful and happy adoption for both the dog and the family.

* Ohio Greyhound Placement is a registered 501(c)(3) corporation.
** "Joshua's House" Memorial Fund for extraordinary veterinary care.
